During the 32nd annual state Prevention Summit in early November, the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) honored individuals, coalitions and organizations throughout the state for their prevention work. One of these individuals was our own Deb Drandoff who was named Prevention Professional of the Year.

Here is a snippet from the nomination packet: “Deb Drandoff is enthusiastic, driven, and encouraging. She is experienced and intelligent and uses every ounce of prevention power to bring resources for positive community level change in over 30 communities. Despite these amazing qualities, she is also humble. She will say ‘You did the work, I am just here to support you!’ She does not take credit for what is rightfully hers, yet sheds the light back onto the coalition or partners. This encourages even further ownership, community buy in and healthy outcomes for youth. This is what a true prevention hero does, empowers youth and communities.”

Congratulations, Deb! We are proud of you and your team!
