Legislators here Wednesday

Tim and Loy have been working for the past several months to put together the annual Legislative Forum and Luncheon. Nine legislators are expected to hear from education leaders from throughout the ESD 112 region about the challenges districts will face under the new state budget. These include bargaining issues, levy limitations teacher shortages and special education, among other topics.

Signs, signs, everywhere the signs

What are those standing, colorful signs on the desks of Cabinet and Executive Directors’ desks and what do they represent? Lots of people have been asking! Cabinet and the EDs recently participated in the Kolbe Index Assessment to better understand each other’s working styles. A half-day training followed the assessment where we learned great insights and helpful tips to optimize our collaborative efforts and communication. We talked about similarities and differences in areas like how we gather and share information, how we deal with risk and uncertainty, and how we organize projects and handle space and tangibles.  We will continue to reference the assessment information to improve our performance as a leadership team.

What we’re working on – the short list

  • Communication Protocols for ESD leaders
  • Continued professional development plans for Specialized Student Services and Early Care and Education staff in the classrooms
  • Prepping for a January Board Workshop
  • Completing Conference Center sound systems and technology upgrades
  • Completing Cabinet retreat action items
  • Build-out of the 2200 building for CSG
  • And more!
