Accessibility training

THANKS to Kristina Wambold, who gave Cabinet an update on the ADA accessibility trainings occurring in the agency. With the launch of the new ESD website and the need to ensure our online and printed materials are accessible to those with disabilities, these trainings are critical to providing awareness and technical tips to comply with ADA accessibility requirements. Kristina shared recommendations from the accessibility committee and asked Cabinet for support in getting policies improved and resources committed to meet these important federal requirements.

50th anniversary AESD Conference planning in full swing

Cabinet members met with AESD Executive Director Gene Sharratt, to begin planning in earnest the 2019 AESD Conference, which represents the 50th anniversary of the inception of ESDs in the state of Washington. With the theme – “Going for the Gold – Together” the conference will feature nationally renowned keynote speaker Daniel James Brown, author of Boys in the Boat. This conference planning adventure will require the talents of many ESD staff, so watch for more information as the planning progresses!

Face-to-face: Have a donut with Tim

The next “Donuts with the Director” for all those who have May birthdays will be on May 21 at 8:30 a.m. in the Cowlitz room. The informal discussions are engaging and informative. Our superintendent greatly enjoys the opportunity to meet and visit ESD employees from a variety of departments. If you missed your birthday month (Sept-April), you are welcome to come in May!
