The ESD Connects committee had this message for ESD staff at the end of year celebration.

While we couldn’t be together in-person for the 2020 End-of-Year Celebration, we enjoyed connecting with an even broader audience (main campus staff AND field staff) through our virtual event. And, bonus: no one had to sit in the uncomfortable conference center chairs!

The theme of the event was Some Good ESD News–a parody of the SGN of YouTube fame, and we enjoyed sharing staff pictures and good stories from near and far.

Per tradition, we also celebrated the Years of Service Awards and retirees, and we announce the winners of the Spirit of the ESD Awards. They were…

Field Staff:

Cheryl Cochran

Special Education Teacher – Ocean Beach SD, Specialized Services Birth – 21

“Cheryl has pitched many novel ideas and is always willing to change the status quo if it results in better service to students… She most recently brokered a deal between SpEd and GenEd teachers to allow for better differentiation of instruction to students on IEPs and a simplified workflow for overburdened students and their families during the distance learning times…”

Main Campus Staff:

Nora Sedlock

Speech Language Pathologist Birth-3, Specialized Services Birth – 21

“Recently one of Nora’s families lost everything in a fire. She went above and beyond connecting them to resources and reaching out to our team to help. She often goes beyond her role taking on kids when her caseload is ‘full,’ being the first to respond to requests for consults to staff who need it, serving on leadership team and taking responsibility for delegated tasks, as well as remembering peoples’ personal celebrations and organizing fun activities for our team.”
