Dear ESD staff:
I am pleased to let you know that Mike Nerland, current superintendent of the Camas School District, has been selected as ESD 112’s next Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning effective July 1, 2016. Mike brings significant leadership experience to the job having been a teacher, principal and superintendent. He recently announced that he will leave his post as Camas’ superintendent in June.
Mike is excited to join the ESD team. “This position presents a unique opportunity for me to combine my professional experience and education to serve one of the premier Educational Service Districts in the nation,” said Nerland. “I look forward to the leadership challenge of providing service on a broader scale that comes with the position of Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning.”
He also praises the work of Barbara Lomas who will retire in June. “Barbara’s leadership at the ESD and throughout her career has been exemplary. I look forward to the opportunity to continue the work in which she’s been involved in partnership with ESD program managers and district and state leaders,” he added.
We are very excited that Mike has chosen to become part of the ESD team and I look forward to welcoming him aboard in July!
-Tim
