Northwest Children’s Outreach (NCO) is an all-volunteer based group that collects resources for children and distributes the goods to local care providers who meet directly with and pre-screen children and families.

In Early Care & Education, ECEAP and Early Head Start, Family Support Specialists such as, Vida Twynham, refer families to NCO’s services regularly. The needs of the families we work with vary, and the ages of children with needs ranges from infants to teens.

Vida shares, “Many of our clients experience losses of spouses, housing, financial resources and jobs. The impact has been severe and, in some cases, families have had to relocate. NCO has been an invaluable resource for these families. Starting over can be a challenge. NCO offers these types of emergency services by providing clothing, personal hygiene items, books and toys to help the family in difficult circumstances.  At times it’s an emergency situation and these ladies have generously open the store for us and put items together for our clients.”

Earlier this year ESD 112 Family Support Specialists enjoyed volunteering at NCO and hope to again!

How can ESD 112 employees help?

As Spring weather is (hopefully) on the horizon, so is spring cleaning! If you want to donate, these are some of the items that NCO gratefully accepts: new and like-new child/teen clothing, baby Items, hygiene items (unopened), complete toys, games, puzzles, stuffed animals, books, baby gates, toys for new birthday gifts, bedding, high chairs, baby swings, and strollers. They are a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation, so any donations are tax-deductible (please see your financial advisor for details on charitable donations).

Donation hours are limited, so if you cannot drop off during their hours of operation, please contact Vida Twynham or another ECE Family Support Specialist who can bring your donation during their weekly visits.

Want to donate your time?

NCO is always looking for volunteers to help gather items together to meet requests from families in need.
