WHO Winter Hospitality Overflow

ESD Connects is excited to announce our first quarter non-profit highlight: WHO (Winter Hospitality Overflow).

Who is WHO?

We are the Winter Hospitality Overflow (WHO), an organization in Vancouver, Washington, devoted to helping those in need during winter’s coldest months.

Guests are offered not only a warm place to sleep, but a hot shower, meal, and the welcome and warmth of a caring community working to address the most basic of human needs.

You might remember WHO as the organization that ESD Connects has chosen in past years to help during the holidays with the “HUGS” tree–collecting hats, underwear, gloves and scarves to pass along to those in need during the cold weather months.  During these same winter months, WHO also operates two warming shelters where individuals in need can get a warm meal and place to shelter overnight.

How can I help?

WHO is always in need of volunteers to sign up to help with shifts and to bring meals. They are also currently in need of travel toiletries, unused shampoo, conditioner, hand/body cream, bath towels and gloves for all ages.  If people want to donate they can call /email Jane Seidel 360-607-4339 fiveseidels@yahoo.com or contact St. Andrew at 360-892-7160.

You can sign up for a volunteer shift or meal using this link.

Thank you to Lisa Alexander in Insurance Programs for providing information about WHO. Lisa and her family have been volunteering and delivering a meal to the shelter each holiday season for 15 years! The Insurance Program plans to provide a meal and volunteer one evening in February and looks forward to this opportunity to help and give back to our community!

ESD Connects will be highlighting a new non-profit each quarter and maybe even more often. Check the ESD Cares page and the staff break room board for the latest highlight.
