We welcome you to join us for a Brain Break!
During Brain Breaks, you will pause and take a moment to rest and reenergize your mind and body. It’s a quick and simple way to focus on your wellness.
Brain Breaks are hosted by Gahlya Auel in collaboration with the Be:Well committee. Gahlya will lead participants in simple practices for 5-15 minutes to calm and refresh our brains. In this brief time together, you will learn and practice new strategies that can be utilized and implemented throughout your day so that you can be as comfortable and productive as possible.
Brain breaks are proven to…
- Reduce your stress
- Help you to be more productive throughout the day…and even the whole week!
- Allow your brain to build stamina
- Improve your ability to focus and manage tasks in your daily life
ESD 112 supports and values the wellness of its employees and encourages you to participate in Brain Breaks, or other forms of wellness and self-care, when possible. If you are unable to attend the Brain Breaks at the scheduled time, the session will be recorded, and you can access it HERE whenever it works best for you.

Meet Gahlya Auel!
Gahlya Auel works at ESD 112 as the Inclusionary Practices Coordinator. This position is funded to support the work of the Inclusionary Practices Project (IPP), a grant funded by the state legislature whose mission is to increase the inclusionary practices statewide for all our students and staff to feel as if they belong and find success in their goals.
Gahlya has a bachelor’s in psychology and a master’s in educational psychology. She worked as a school psychologist for 11 years before joining the ESD (Educational Service District) in her current role. She is passionate about practices that support the wellbeing of educators, families, and students alike as we are all in this together. As a psychologist, Gahlya has worked to learn about how the brain works so we can use this knowledge to our advantage to support the activities that we want and need to do. In her spare time Gahlya likes to read (audio books!), be outside, dance, spend time with her family, and eat delicious food.
She is excited to be a part of this work to support the Be:Well committee!
