ESD 112 staff are currently reviewing and vetting resources others have created that families might use to support learning at home.

These are some of our STEM staff’s recommended resources:

MATH

Our Math Coordinator, Molly Daley leads the Math Anywhere project.

  • The Math Anywhere website has videos and resources that families can use to support their math learners.
  • She also recommends this resource that was compiled by a highly regarded math educator using free resources.

SCIENCE

Our Business and Community Engagement Coordinator, Chad Mullen, has provided the following links to support science learning with our earliest learners.

  •  Cedar Mat Weaving (with a paper option) – from Washington State’s ‘Since Time Immemorial’/Tribal Sovereignty curriculum
  •  Sit Spots – children pick a spot outdoors and sit quietly for a few minutes observing the natural world around them, then return to the SAME spot over time to observe changes and patterns
  • Plant Growth – children ‘plant’ seeds in a clear cup or plastic bag and monitor growth
  • Tree Bark Rubbings – crayons and paper and trees – great combo!
  • Nature Scavenger Hunt – I like the ‘something in your favorite color’ entry!

We will continue to vet and provide resources to support all learners at home, so check back here for updates!

OSPI also has a page of compiled resources that their content experts have compiled. Check it out here
