How long have you worked for ESD 112 and what does your job entail?
I began working for ESD 112 at the beginning of the 2015-2016 school year. My job includes preparing materials to match my supervisor’s lesson plans, monitoring student behavior, and assisting students with academics as needed.
What do you like best about your job?
I love seeing the growth that is made by the students; those who put in the effort feel proud. I like being able to be part of the small and large victories and being available throughout the day to help anyone in need.
What do you find most challenging about your job?
I find it challenging when the students’ home life is not ideal, and I want to be able to intervene.
Single? Married? Kids? Pets?
I am single and have one cat, although that does not make me sound cool at all.
What do you enjoy doing with your free time?
In my free time, I enjoy going to church, being around my friends and family, and creating pottery.
What’s your favorite ESD memory?
Since I am new to ESD, I do not have a ton of memories with the district, but I have enjoyed meeting and getting to know all of my coworkers through being hired with ESD 112.
What is the funniest thing that you heard or saw recently?
A student told me that he had a new favorite band, The Who. I think he was born into the wrong era. Pretty adorable.
If you could live in a book, TV show or movie, what would it be?
If I could live in a book, I would chose to live in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. (I chose that particular book because it seems more diverse than the others as far as change of scenery and pace, for example they go to Hogsmead, inside the secret room, etc.)
If you could master one skill you don’t have right now, what would it be?
I would love to master calculus.
Would you rather live in the city or the woods? Why?
I currently live in a pretty wooded area and love it. The air is cleaner and fresher and there is a slower attitude towards life that I like.
What’s your favorite holiday and why?
My favorite holiday is the Fourth of July, because fireworks never cease to be magical to me.
What future events are you looking forward to?
I am looking forward to becoming a certified teacher and having a classroom of my own. I am also looking forward to having children someday and/or becoming a foster parent.
