Vicki Stanton is an Audiologist in the Specialized Student Services department.

How long have you worked for ESD 112 and what does your job entail?
9 years. I conduct the annual hearing screening for the schools (40 of them).

What do you like best about your job?
I really love being in a school environment and providing a valuable service. Plus, I work with an awesome group of ladies in Audiology.

What do you find most challenging about your job?
My duties require me to travel every day, often very long distances. I can spend more time traveling to a school than actual screening time with the students.

Single? Married? Kids? Pets?
Married 28 years, a daughter (26) who is a nurse in Seattle (Go Hawks!) and recently engaged and a son (20) who is studying accounting at WSU-Vancouver.

What do you enjoy doing with your free time?
I love to dabble in interior design. My husband wishes I had a less expensive hobby.

If you had to choose to live without one of your five senses, which one would you give up and why?
My brother is deaf, and it’s been hard to see the struggles he’s encountered throughout his life, so definitely not hearing. Maybe taste–that would help with my never-ending dieting failures!

Would you rather live in the city or the woods? Why?
City–I don’t want to be more than 15 minutes from a Target!

What’s your favorite holiday and why?
Of course Christmas is a very special family holiday, but I throw a killer, over-the-top New Year’s Eve party for my friends.

If you could choose to stay a certain age forever, what age would it be?
Definitely my 30s–I loved all the fun, family activities that we did with our two kids.

When you have 30 minutes of free-time, how do you pass the time?
I’m learning to crochet (thanks, Mom!) baby blankets for my future grandchildren.

What future events are you looking forward to?
My daughter is getting married in Seattle next November, and I can’t wait to help her with planning her big day.

What was your most interesting past job?
I taught preschool for 10 years, and it was hands-down the most rewarding job I’ve had.
