Curtis Ellis was named the Director of Information Technology (formerly known as Communication & Information Management) in December, 2015.

How long have you worked for ESD 112 and what did you do before becoming IT Director?

I’ve been working for the ESD for 16 years. During this time, I’ve held the following positions: Desktop Technician, Network Support Specialist 1 & 2, Supervisor, Technology Systems, and now IT Director.

Prior to the ESD, I worked for software development company that built software for mental health hospitals.

What do you like best about your new position?

It’s given me a chance to work on many new projects. I also now have a chance to work with staff that I’ve never had a chance to work with before.

What do you find most challenging about your new position?

Something strange has happened to the clock. There does not seem to be as many hours in the day. The only thing that I can figure out is something has happened to the time-warped field or absolute time has been disrupted. That would account for the shorter days.

What did you want to be when you were little?

It depended on what type of television I was watching at the time. I wanted to either be a U.S. army soldier, truck driver, astronaut, or an baseball player

What is the most interesting place you’ve ever lived?

I lived at Fort Bragg NC while I served in the US Army. There were many things that were different. One of the best things is the water in the ocean is warm there. People spend a lot of time on the beach.

Single? Married? Kids? Pets?

Married for 30 years, two adult kids, and 2 cats.

What future events are you looking forward to?

We’re going to take a trip to San Diego to visit my son-in-law.
