Teaching & Learning BrainstormOn August 12 the Teaching & Learning division held a Leadership Retreat for directors from Specialized Student Services, Student & School Success and Early Care & Education. When the three Executive Directors, Mary, Jodi, and Kathy, planned the Retreat for the Division of Teaching and Learning, they identified six outcomes.

To:

  • connect and collaborate with colleagues
  • build community across the three departments
  • identify how the division of Teaching and Learning currently supports the ESD 112 mission
  • explore how the Teaching and Learning division can expand its reach in support of ESD 112’s mission and goals
  • identify core values and how the departments relate and communicate as a team
  • have a fun and productive day

One of the team building activities was a STEM challenge that emphasized cross-departmental problem solving (photos below).

“It was a great day,” says Mike Nerland. “All of the participants were actively involved, and, together, we identified several potential areas for cross-departmental collaboration which we will be exploring in greater detail. For me, personally, it was also a great opportunity to get to know the Teaching and Learning leadership team better.”

The Teaching and Learning leaders plan to meet again in December or January.
