Championing ESD and school issues on Capitol Hill

Some ESD Cabinet and board members are traveling to Washington DC at the end of September to attend the AESA Call to Action Legislative Conference. Loy Dale, Mike Nerland and ESD 112 Board members Rainer Houser and Ann Campbell will join Superintendent Tim Merlino for the conference and individual meetings with our regions’ congressional delegation.  Click here to see the issues they’ll be discussing.

Free Preschool? Yes, it’s true

Many of us might not think about whether or not our kids, grandkids or acquaintances with preschool-age kids qualify for ECEAP. Our ECEAP program still has 180 preschool slots throughout Clark County available for income-eligible families!  Unfortunately, it’s difficult to reach parents and families who would benefit from the program. SO, please pass the message along to neighbors, friends, family and acquaintances. The free preschool program is open to eligible 3- to 5-year-olds at locations in Vancouver, Evergreen, Battle Ground, Washougal and Woodland school districts. Children are accepted into ECEAP based on their age, family income, and other developmental or environmental risk factors. Parents can call 360-952-3466 to find out if they’re eligible and apply for enrollment.

The ESD 112 Back to School Staff Meeting

If you attended the recent staff meeting, you already know how inspirational Jeff Snell’s message was. If you missed it, click here to see his PowerPoint. Jeff is the Superintendent in Camas School District. He and his son Micah run marathons to earn money for important charities that support students with disabilities. Check out the Micah’s Miles Facebook page for more info.

Our superintendent Tim Merlino also shared a short PowerPoint with staff that included his goals for the coming year. Click here to check it out.
